No need to adjust your set -- the newly released Skype v2.2.0.45 does indeed play nice with the latest flavor of WinMo, so there's really no reason why you're still here reading this rather than starting a download. But we love you for it, so feel free to stick around if you wish.

Adding a feature BlackBerry users have already enjoyed for a little while now, the S60 and Windows Mobile clients for Google Maps have now been imbued with transit directions, making it easier than ever to find the closest ratty upholstered seat with puke stains on it. Actually, that's just a side effect of its real lease in life, which is finding the best way to get from point A to point B via various forms of public transit. Version 2.2, as it's playfully known, also adds business ratings, user-generated search content, and generally makes things snappier, so it seems like a pretty obvious upgrade, particularly if you enjoy sitting next to a dude with a boombox who hasn't showered in three days.

Mac sync software developer Mark/Space has announced the release of The Missing Sync for Symbian. Designed to sync Mac applications for Symbian UIQ and S60 smartphones, the new product for $ 39.95 (electronic download) has a unique feature - synchronizing proximity. When your Mac and Symbian phone are within reach of Bluetooth (about 30 feet / 10 meters), they synchronize automatically to ensure that both are updated.

The Missing Sync for Symbian synchronize personal information such as contacts, calendar events and tasks, and also uses the property registry calls and SMS applications to move the telephone call recording and text messages to the Mac. Video, photography, music and document files can also be synchronized.

If you think the iPhone is the only smartphone on the market, it is important to realize that over 100 million Symbian-based phones were sold worldwide, with Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and be the largest suppliers . As a result, the Missing Sync for Symbian is available in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

Although Skyfire continues to promise great things in the front Windows Mobile - a striker that needs as many high quality as browsers that can get - there is another beta version of the company getting underway for a version of its S60 Flash-enabled Web viewer. The original (and free) JoikuSpot has risen through the ranks to become one of the more popular S60 apps around, and for good reason -- it turns your WiFi-equipped S60 device into a go-anywhere hotspot -- and when you add 3G into the mix, the result is truly magic. The Premium version of the same app is now available, adding VPN support for the corporate types out there and removing the forced Joiku-branded landing page that would-be users of your makeshift hotspot see the first time they connect. If you need the extra horsepower over the free version (which is still available), you can grab it now for €15 (about $24).

Widget Maps allows you to get your location position using an address search facility which then plots it on Google maps on your phone. The widget also allows you then to move the cursor to your exact location and get the corresponding latitude and longitude which you can share with your friends. The nice thing is that this will work on any J2ME phone supporting WidSets client Irrespective of having access to some form of positioning technology (sort of low tech my location). Widget Maps is currently available as a beta widget on the Widsets site.

Nokia PC Suite 7 has completed the period of beta testing and is ready for download. The changes, even too much, especially concerning new applications added, Communication Center and support for the new generation phones that have just arrived or are about to enter the market.

Nokia Beta Labs has launched an Assisted GPS (A-GPS) application for the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet. The application is still at beta phase, but you can download it for free and give them feedback on what should be added/ changed. A-GPS will be a welcome addition to the Internet Tablet. Just when you think that your cell phone is able to do everything, along comes Qik. Qik enables your handset to perform a direct video streaming, so I would highly recommend some sort of unlimited data plan if you happen to be interested, unless you're filthy rich and don't mind paying a fortune based on cents-per-kilobyte.
